I always love how on macro brewery tours they always try to tell you that the thing that makes their beer "so good" is their "super secret yeast" and that it's SOO much more different than other yeast. -Now sometimes this may infact be true, but Lager yeast has very little genetic differentiation as a species; these macro breweries goal isn't to make flavorful beer; it's to make flavorless beer.

Hence large, vertical fermenters, lager yeast, and of course "super freezy pop" beer...

I think there's a slow deterioration that occurs in the soul of these macro breweries that can be seen over time; the final stage of the blackening of the macro brewery soul occurs when they start pushing the "coldest beer" marketing.

Say no to Beer Imperialism!
viva la (beer) revolution!

Well the point about the differing patterns of buds on the tongue has recently been disproven, tastebuds are the same all over the tongue, but this was being taught in medical school not so long ago.

The point about the bitterness residing in the head is as far as I can discern...a fact. A proper poured pils will be much sweeter than the same beer from a bottle, do a side by side and report back. Dip your finger in the head and taste the foam.....

The head thing does have some validity, for instance the english on jims have northern (frothy) versus southern (unfrothy) head wars, the southerns rightly claim (IMO) that all the taste stays in the pint as intended instead of in a big frothy head you could stick a flake in.
