Jacobsen Brown Ale 17 years 2 months ago #1

has anyone tried this before? Deveneys in Rathmines have some for sale (close to expiry). Its a Carlsberg brewed premium (or so they claim), that is for Nordic consumption only. The cheek!

Strangely enough, I considered grabbing a couple of bottles of this while in a supermarket in Copenhagen last Monday. There was some discussion of the range here[/url:29c05fvc]before, and Mr BeerNut also described his experiences with the range on his blog[/url:29c05fvc].

Funny, Carlsberg have several premium brands, some of which are actually good. Jacobsen, from what I had, isn't one of them. Great ideas but terrible execution.

Mind you, when it's €2 a bottle the Saaz Blonde has to be about the cheapest alcohol available.

deveney's have a recession fridge (in rathmines) where one can purchase such products for a euro a pop...slightly out of date mind but when its only a month or 3 it doesn't really bother me. i thought the brown ale was good if i rem rightly. maybe the dark lager was the better one. both fine for a euro though.got 4 for 4 euro a couple of weeks back.

Not tried it. Would be interested in trying.

How much was it in Copenhagen Adeptus?

Ya know, I didn't check. But for context, I [b:147ljpvs]can [/b:147ljpvs]tell you that a 600ml bottle of Nørrebro King's Country or Ravnsborg Red Ale cost €4.58, while a 500ml Svaneke Stout set me back 2.86 (much cheaper than I thought!), with the Choko version being 3.43. Dear hole <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

In the pubs it was a killer though. 300ml glass of beer in Brewpub[/url:147ljpvs]cost 4.36. Very tasty though.
