I remember growlers at Founders[/url:3sjj3xx7]back in Michigan-good times! I've passed on my trusty growler to my brother who still lives there and fills it up occasionally with some tasty brews. They are great for bringing to parties or just sharing with friends or drinking at home-taste a few beers at the bar and then fill it up in the backpack for the walk/bike ride home.

You can get them for as low as €3.20 in the Ongar Village off licence, but some people reported paying as much as a euro above that elsewhere, IIRC.

At the risk of sounding like Mary Harney, Madigan: shop around.[/quote:3cmvdkfm]

If you're taking a trip up to the north anytime soon, you can pick up some nice UK and Whitewater beers for less than 2 pounds sterling at the Sainsbury's in Newry.

The point about the price of Belfast Lager in Redmonds is that it represents such a contrast in value when compared to another product sold in the same shop (Brooklyn Lager). Deveney's in Rathmines, which is less than 10 minutes from Redmond's, sells Whitewater beers for €2.99 yet they must be getting them from the same supplier...

Is the Brooklyn Lager in date? I have never seen it sold that cheaply, which makes me suspicious.

It's in date alright, but it's 'best before' April '09 so it won't be pristine for too much longer. Plenty of time to take advantage of the offer though...
