Tried some Wednesday night; I'm generally not a spiced/Christmas ale fan myself, but this one was quite pleasant. Lots of nutmeggy goodness. Definitely nutmeg was the most "up front" spice, what spices did the rest of you identify? (I know; I should've started with this BEFORE the stout.) Again, I generally steer clear of this style as a general rule, but this is still my favorite example of the style so far.

I liked the Friar Weisse as well, but there's just something wrong about a clear Weissbier. I know many of the German breweries make "Krystal Weiss" clear versions of Weiss beers but as a general rule, I think the cloudiness (and small layer of yeast at the bottom) is an important part of the style. -Don't filter out my B vitamins, please! lol!

P.S. LOOOOVED Franciscan Well, walking down the stone archway alley, to the German-style beer garden was great, being able to see into the brewery and have a chat with the brewers and employees was great and of course the overly friendly brewery dog all added to the experience.

Oh yea, I was told that the 9 pint "Mini Brewery" kegs are unavailable right now but in the Jan-Feb timeline they will be coming back for a short period of time and after that they're probably going to be gone forever. (Not enough demand to justify.)

Has anyone purchased one of these? They're aluminum right? -No possiblity of refilling in anyway?
