That will give them a set location for media launches I imagine. Not just Carlow but also ICBI.

For what it's worth, I ate in Ely just before Christmas, I was seriously impressed with the food and the beer list. The only downside was at the only craft on tap (Full Sail) had run out.

It used to be O'Hara's on tap there.

A few of us went along to this place, Urban Brewing, last night. They're doing a few days of soft launches before opening fully at the end of this month.

It's an impressive set-up: a ground level bar and terrace with a 1000L brewkit on a gantry above it. There's a huge vault downstairs with another bar, restaurant seating, and the fermenters. Finished beer is pumped back up to where the brewhouse is and served from tanks up there.

They're expecting to have about a dozen house beers, as well as the Carlow range and guests. First out have been a raspberry wheat beer and an elderflower saison, both of which were promising but unfinished. There's a session IPA almost ready to go, and a stout in the fermenter. They also have some beer ageing in sherry casks down below.

It's well worth a look if you're in the area, and it's about time there was a bit more brewing spectacle in Dublin.

You're missing a 0 there. Looks like a 1000 litre kit though Seamus told me it was a 5HL kit....

Oops! Fixed. Alan said it's a 1000L kit but he expects most batches will be 800L. I think the first few have been 500L. In the picture, left to right, that's the HLT, three serving tanks and then the brewhouse.
