Been a lot of excitement over the release of this today. I found myself getting caught up in the hysteria of it, and made a special trip through the city, found parking, and joined the mob in The Brew Dock. After the jubilation of grabbing two bottles, I was on the long drive back home and thought about the fact that A. Last year I had no issue getting bottles or pints in either ATG or The Dark Horse, and B. I seriously hope that this isn't the beginning of the "once-off, super special release party" craze that hit the US, notably with Pliny The Elder/Younger. I was thrilled with the turn out tonight, so much excitement and enthusiasm over craft beer in Ireland right now, it's an important step. Something like this gathers people together, makes others take notice, makes other brewers step up their game a little, but there is a word of caution here as well. This revolution is inclusionary, not exclusionary, the more Beoir members, home brewers, and people expecting to have a local brewery no matter where they live in Ireland is only a good thing. Ok, rant over, now I'm going to crack open one of these babies and enjoy it.

Was watching twitter last night, and clearly a good beer but you did look like a lot of parents fighting over Frozen Dolls on Christmas eve

HAHAHA...not too far off, there was a collective sigh when Wayne got the first pint poured.

CTbeerguy I see your point and agree on the general sense (we need to work to keep craft beer an inclusive "revolution" and not a "geek" stuff), but it's worth pointing out a few things:
- differently than last year, this year the 200 Fathoms bottles will be distributed to off-licenses as well, I heard; this is actually a broader distribution than last year... I also don't remember that the 2014 edition was on tap anywhere until very late in the year... initially it was only very expensive bottles
- inclusion is important, I agree, but it can't mean "refraining from interesting small batches because not everyone can appreciate the product".
- Galway Bay has always promoted their Pilot Series in a similar way and kept it isolated to their pubs. It's part of their business model and I wouldn't really have anything to argue against. Yesterday at the Brew Dock we just saw the result of the launch of a new version of a beer that indeed got a lot of success last year...

My 2 cents
