Irish Craft Beer Fest at Savour Kilkenny... 11 years 6 months ago #19

Well thank goodness for Beoir. Very little mention of beer fest on any other social network feeds or sites that I've seen, apart from the very odd brewer's tweets. No mention on Savour's own FB or Twitter feed even!

Info still wrong on web page too. You'd almost think they didn't want us bearded beer-nerd types there...

It's a pity it's not being promoted more considering the whole Savour ethos.

Still, looking forward to the beer vs wine smackdown!

It was a good little beer tent. I was with the family so didn't get to spend that much time. But on the plus side, there was off sales so I took a few bottles home (including White Gypsy's Emerald) and got a cool tote bag from Dungarvan.

The beer/cider versus wine smackdown was great fun. Highbank medieval cider beat a verdejo. Metalman Rubus drew with a chateauneuf du pape; and 8 Degrees Knockmealdown drew with a very interesting organic sweet red wine. And we got double chocolate porter brownies, courtesy or Caroline Hennessey.

I was there on the Saturday. Beer vs wine was brilliant, as was the Twitter banter before and after.

The beer tent was great and fitted in perfectly. Hopefully it will be bigger and with more breweries next year. I think the organisers thought it might bring in an unsavoury crowd! Oh wait...

I have a rambling post about the festival in general on my blog.

Great day!

Talk is already on to extend the event into the night and include some music. All the brewers were positive about the event and I think everyone ended up making money.

The flipside- I wish we could have some more of the food vendors that were there, at the ICBCF. The venison burger was fantastic; the kids loved the kangaroo on a stick; and I managed to snag some Naga Chili paste from the Rebel Chili guys...

Looks like this is one to make a day of next year. Great write-up Liam!

Food selection and quality was superb alright. Kilkenny and surrounding counties have a some great food producers that often get overlooked.

BTW the trout caviar was incredible!

Looking forward to next year already.
