TOPIC:

Possible visit/brew session to Hooker Brewery 19 years 1 week ago #1

I've just been emailing Aidan from the Hooker Brewery (very nice bloke) in Roscommon about possibly getting a full day tour down there and seeing how the whole process is done in a commercial setting, and he would have no problem with some of us arriving one saturday or sunday to do a brew - he even kindly suggested that he would change from doing his normal midweek brewing to facilitate a weekend for us.

How many people would be interested in this? I know I'd like to head down and see how it all works in a bigger setup, rather than my back yard. And of course to try out his much acclaimed Galway Hooker.

Interest?

Ken,

I've had the same conversation with Aidan and I hope to get down at some stage over the summer. It would probably make sense for him not to have do this on separate occasions. Depending on whether others are interested we can follow it up on PM?

Yeah. I'd love to go!

I think it should be "managed" through one contact though, to make a kinda ICB trip out of it

And we could bring ICB samples for him to taste too

Totally agree, it could be another meet-up session. perhaps find some cheap accomodtion in the town, stay the sat night, bring some beers to sample and see what the local hostelries have to offer...

I would be very interested in this. If we can get all of our ducks in a row, this would make a great outing.

Would we be talking about going down and back on the same day, or an overnight stay in a B&B?

It's not too far away for most here, but then again, drink would be involved

There's always the train though if staying didn't suit.
