Beer Destinations - Vienna & Bratislava 17 years 8 months ago #1

Ger has done a great bit of trailfinding in Austria and Slovakia. His account of the beers he found there is here[/url:22wi6ggb].

Plenty of tasty beers in there. I didn't make the most of my trip to Vienna at all.

Nice article Ger. At this rate we'll soon have the ICB travel guide to the beer world.

Ger, I think you can get the Staropramen Granat in the Czech Inn in Dublin, near the Porterhouse. They certainly had *something* Granat when I was there, and I seem to recall it being a brand name I was familiar with.

Even if they don't have that one, they have a huge range of Czech, and presumably Slovak, beers there, both on draft and in bottles. Great place.

I 'll second that. Had some damn fine beer in there on Friday.

Bratislava is a great city, as is Vienna, but worlds apart. There may not be a brewpub (I didn't find one either), but The Slovak Pub[/url:3a0or17k] is a good spot to spend an afternoon, trying most of the beers you mentioned without budging, and getting well fed in the process. If you do feel the urge to move, there are as many rooms in the pub as beers on the menu, or so it seems after the first half dozen.
