Sorry to here, that a lot of beer to chuck.

Plastic buckets are great and cheap but do have a finite life time.

What a pain! Did this bug get past the bleach and vinegar killer?

Like the big type font on this article (eyes failing in middle age )

If a nasty is hiding in a crack or scratch in the surface it doesn't matter what you use to sanitise, because the sani can't get at it.

The large type wasn't intentional. Not sure what I did that caused that.

i feel your pain. i chucked the best part of 50L last year. i stopped using one of my buckets and so far everything has been fine...but recently i went back to the bucket as a secondary and have had no bad effects. i did buy some iodophor and gave it a few soakings in different solutions including a bleach and vinegar. not really sure what the problem was but i usually let the buckets soak for a few hours if not overnight just to be somewhat sure. it is a little worse though when the infection hits late and you have already bottled...especially if you are giving it to friends

Has anyone tried using a strong caustic solution and leaving it in the bucket for a few hours. Casutic generally kills everything including those foolish to abuse it. It also does a spanking job of cleaning corrosive safe equipment good enough for big pharma.
