It could be a cost factor also. Those glasses are pricey, and a more off-the-shelf design might save the lads a few quid.

Of course, nice glasses make for nice souvenirs, which doesn't help.

Aidan told us the price per glass, and it ain't cheap. Meanwhile a mod on this site, who shall remain nameless, was stuffing his bag with said expensive glassware.

I've never done it, and won't do it again...
