homebrew.ie bigger range of 25kg whole malts from Weyerm 14 years 7 months ago #13

While I REALLY REALLY appreciate your achievement in sourcing 25kgs of malt from abroad ( after all Ireland cannot grow German or UK malts ) why oh why why can we not obtain Irish Barley/Wheat/Rye malts from the maltsters in this country???

Ok, so a micro-brewery that DID have access to .ie malts and offered them to us was eventually throttled, Why can't a LARGE homebrew supplier like your good selves NOT buy malted grain in 25kg sacks?

As a Weslhman living in Irelnd I would really like to brew an Irish Roggen

When I lived in Friedrichshaven on the Boddensee there were only 2 brewers of Roggen ( and only in bottles!! )

My original Irish Roggen on draught could be a worlds first

Cheers

Hi Will,
I think it is that if the malt suppliers don't get the deal to supply the base malt, which is the biggest volume seller then they are not so keen to sell the other grains aswell, and certainly not at the same price. I am open to correction here but AFIK thats the case.
I think it's great however that we can now buy full sacks at a reasonable price, well done homebrew.ie

Forgot to mention, the Irish maltsters only sell in bulk, so collection and bagging would also be part of the deal.

Hi Will

Well thanks for letting me know that you would like Irish malts and ale man have a bit more faith

I have just bought a commercial heat sealer and bags hopefully they will get here by Friday in which case i should have at least one Irish malt on the website by Saturday (as long as i can work the heat sealer) I'm not saying which malt until i put it on the site. Monday or Tuesday at the latest.

I hope to be selling it in 1 and 3 kg bags whole I'm also thinking about selling it crushed to order as well but i need to find the space for that first and then figure out if i have the time to do it.

Keep letting me know what you want and ill try my best.
Still looking for better grain mills too.
Cheers
