You can cut the top off a keg with a grinder. It's a bit of a pain and you'll use a full 9" disc or 2 or 3 small grinder discs( cost 3 or 4€). A 40mm hole saw does the element although fitting the full kettle element is tricky. Mine went wrong after a while and I had to strip it back and make a special fitting and seal the whole lot with polyurethene sealant. Now it's fine. I'll post photos if anyone wants.
Best trick of all is to insulate it. I get a big rolling boil after about 15 mins with one element. I actually have two elements fitted but only ever use one.
Do we have a thread for equipment? If not we should.
