WTB: Draught stout dispensing equipment 15 years 3 months ago #1

I'm being a bit lazy on this but only because I know someone here knows the answers off the top of their head!

I want to buy whatever equipment is usual for dispensing draught stouts on nitrogen/co2. I have absolutely nothing apart from an ex-Guinness tap.

Cornelius keg type scale is what I'm looking at.

Any suggestions on what I need to buy and where to buy it (and prices) are greatly appreciated.

TIA!

I should have stressed I'm looking to buy the stuff anywhere, and just looking for advice here.

Perhaps Market Square is the wrong forum?

I suppose all you need (assuming you already have a corny setup) is
A mixed gas cylinder.
A mixed gas regulator.
Correct diameter line to go from your corny to your guinness tap (i dont think its the same diameter as is needed for the taps norm sells)

The problem you will have is getting the mixed gas cylinder - dont know where you can buy the gear though.
I have a mixed gas cylinder - but no regulator. I got it from someone i know in the pub trade.

I think i may have heard that sometimes nitrogen is not strictly necessary, aerating the beer on exit from the tap may be enough to give it a bit of creaminess without nitrogen - I know the guinness tap has a little disc with holes in it under the spout, that the beer has to pass through. This may go some way to doing what im trying to describe.

Edit: just saw that you said you had nothing except the tap. There is plenty of info on here about buying corny setups. All you need to remember that if you are using mixed gas, you need a different regulator.

hi Tube,

Maybe you have found this already but Wunderbar in Dunshaughlin supply gas bottles (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.wunderbar.ie/equipment-and-cleaning/index.asp">www.wunderbar.ie/equipment-and-c ... /index.asp), gas mixes, regulators (www.wunderbar.ie/equipment-and-cleaning/...ections-fittings.asp">www.wunderbar.ie/equipment-and-c ... ttings.asp) and lines. I have not dealt with them myself but they do target the domestic market. I'm sure a phone call or e-mail to them will give you a fair idea of the components needed and the associated costs.

Best of luck
