I think that if you're in private property and there's no money changing hands for alcohol then you're fine. I remember when my GAA club opened our clubhouse in Ballinteer the application for a license hadn't gone through yet, so they were giving booze out for free and I believe that was all above board.

The TBN explains it, technically it goes against the letter of the law. Legally you can only drink your own homebrew yourself and probably only in your own home.
