Supposed to be tonic wine but it really a chemical mix of alcohol, sugar and caffeine, i think the Scottish version has vanilla added <!-- s:o --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_surprised.gif" alt=":o" title="Surprised" /><!-- s:o -->

Buckie is a tonic wine with an "acquired" taste.
You would normally acquire such taste in your teens by guzzling a bottle at the begining of a night out.
Depending on where you were in scotland your early bottle would be either Buckie (Buckfast), T-Bird ( Thunderbird) or El-D (Eldorado).

On a trip to Glasgow I saw pubs that had in optics! Locals told me the City Council has asked the monks to start using plastic bottles to reduce the numbers in A&E who had been injured by being battered with the glass bottle. At the time the monks refused"!!
