After a long series of beer battles via email, we have decided to do a blind tasting of Irish stouts in O'Neills. 5 people, 5 stouts, one winner. Praying to God that the 5 randomers dont pick Guinness

rossa Offline Posts: 1127	I think people have an idea of what it tastes like and when it stands side by side with the other stouts it really doesn't hold it head high as was seen when we did the stout tasting last year. It was surprising. I think we all wanted o'Hara's to be the best but I felt Murphy's was really up there. Guin was lagging behind in the taste race.

If it is done properly and by that I mean double blind, I really don't see much chance of Guinness being picked as the winner. My experience of the blind taste test was that Guinness and Beamish both tasted pretty lousy, with Murphy's having a bit of flavour to it and O'Hara's being the best of the lot. I would expect Guinness drinkers to pick either Murphy's or O'Hara's, thinking they are choosing Guinness.

session Offline Posts: 143	i want to run down the street and get some plain aswell, to through it into the mix. The consensus among the Arthurites, is that Plain is a bad pint. Want to gauge their reaction when an extra stout is thrown in there.
