Gordon Ramsay Homebrew 18 years 2 days ago #1

Just switched on the TV and up pops Gordon Ramsay's F Word on Channel 4. He's out the back garden home brewing (all grain) with Douglas somethingorother from Innis & Gunn. This seems to be an ongoing part of his series to 'find the perfect beer' to serve with some meal.

It's nice to see beer get some recognition from the celebrity chef brigade given the amount of viewers these shows get.

Turned it on within ten minutes of you posting. All I got to see was Janet Street Preacher standing on Ostrich eggs. <!-- s:? --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_confused.gif" alt=":?" title="Confused" /><!-- s:? -->

. it starts about 10 minutes into second half of show after break. The link expires in 4 days it says.

I heard of this through Ron's blog. His take on it is slightly different.

Good link, I haven't seen that part of the programme. I would agree 100% with the post though, disappointing. Still, even if he can't recognise a decent beer at least it might raise some awareness that there are some beers out there worth trying. I did wonder whether he 'chose' Innis & Gunn for gimmick value because of the whiskey barrel aging.

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall (the guy from escape to River cottage) brewed a nettle-beer with Badgers, bit of a gimmick I suppose but fair play to him anyway. The taste by the way was interesting, but I think it's one of those beers you would only drink one of at a time.
