Me too. Which is why I want to lobby for later DARTs.

I'm going to have to agree with Séan on this. Early closing times in this country have just made me move my going out time earlier. I feel better going home when I choose rather than when I am forced home. In Norway pubs close at 3am, in New York 4am. Can't say that despite multiple visits to these locations that I have ever seen the bar man flash the lights, I was well under my duvet by then.

There shouldn't be broad brush legislation for all to tackle a few problem drinkers. Flexibility in opening hours is great for one off events etc. What about people working late shifts, should they be denied the pleasure of drinking in a pub/bar

And so what if I want to drink irresponsibly once in a while, I'm an adult after all and can make my own decisions as long as they don't impinge on others

What does the "structural separation of alcohol from other goods in shops and supermarkets" entail? It would imply that you need a seperate room, but surely that would just make it impossible for all the small spar style retailers to have a drinks section

And for "Calorie and health warning labelling on alcohol", would a mandatory ingredient list not be more informative than a calorie count.

Structural separation is just as it sounds. There's a physical barrier in place. They do it in the north. You have to go in to the alcohol section via a turnstile. You can't mistakenly wander in there and be swayed by booze like a kid at a checkout sweet stand. It doesn't need to be a separate room as such. In some ways it's pointless but it will not do any harm to the consumer, other than perhaps cause chaos at Christmas and other special weekends.

We want proper ingredient labelling in place and are working with our EBCU partners to achieve this, as well as on our own in Ireland. Calorie content would be a welcome addition.

Why no legislation to ensure the ingredients used in alcohol (including any removed during the process) is not listed on the bottle/can?
