Well I just tried them and I don't see what all the fuss is about. They are quite chewy and meaty which is nice. I think the problem is that I left them in salt water over night. Now that is recommended to kill bugs however I think I may have used too much salt so they came out quite salty.
I only had a few halves and then dumped the rest.

If I find any more, maybe next year I will be a little more careful.
