I do both, depending on what I'm making. But if you get floury goo, then you may be using too much flour, and indeed, would be frying a batter rather than browning meat I just use a dusting, and then stir the juices into whatever flour is left to make a thin paste that goes in later for thickening without leaving lumps of congealed flour. Still, it all tastes good in the end

I gave the lads an option of trying this recipe or a beef and guinness stew on Saturday. Guess what they chose

I'll make this for me and the family some other time. I'm sure the 3-year-old will gobble it up when he's told there's chocolate and beer in it! Aventinus would be great too, and at the prices here, I'd feel less "guilty" than I did in Dublin for pouring a full bottle of beer into something

try a Rauchbier in it

Now there's an idea!

I tried Schlenkerla Rauchbier a couple of years ago, and it was interesting! I was poking about for some a couple of days ago and found a website that specialises in Bamberg Beers[/url:1w1t38xb], so will be ordering a mixed crate. Smoke City!

the beer on that site is so cheap

do you know if they deliver to Ireland and how much it costs?

The beer is cheap everywhere here. It's terrible that I bought so much I have to have a couple of bottles every night

As they have it in English too, I'm guessing they'd deliver outside Germany too.

Actually. On the left side, down a bit, see [i:30ep57xy]Liefer- und Versandkosten[/i:30ep57xy]

[quote:30ep57xy]nach Italien, Österreich, Belgien, Dänemark (außer Faröer und Grönland), Frankreich (außer überseeische Gebiete und Departements), Großbritannien(inkl. Isle of Man;außer Kanalinseln), Luxemburg, Niederlande(außer außereurop. Gebiete), Spanien(auß. Kanar.
Ins., Ceuta + Melilla), Schweden und Polen:
1 Paket: 22,00 EUR
2-3 Pakete: 32,00 EUR[/quote:30ep57xy]THey don't list Ireland, but as they are all EU countries I imagine the cost would be the same.

Oh, and they have a page on home brewing[/url:30ep57xy]!

that works out just over €2 a bottle delivered to your door! bargain! Considering I paid about €3.50 for a bottle of Schlenkerla Rauchbier the other day in Sweeneys (although that place is expensive even for Irish shops)
