The maki-sushis (first pic) are wrapped in nori paper, which is actually quite close to our dear Irish Moss.
Butthe gelatinous aspect comes from the starch of the rice, not from any seaweed.

Oblivious : I didn't forget it, the wasabi is between the rice and the salmon <!-- s:-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":-)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:-) -->

I love sushi. I only made it once but it was a big hit. Even my daughters friend, whom I later learned is supposed to be a picky eater, loved my improvised selection. Just didn't mention the "rolled in seaweed" bit 'till they decided they liked it.

The leftovers made great packed lunches. Must make it again.
