Great British Beer Festival 12 years 8 months ago #1

Hi Folks,

Am heading to this at the weekend and wondered if anyone has been & if they any advice / recommendations? Also I'll be in London for the entire weekend, staying in The Bankside area and was wondering if anyone could recommend any craft beer experiences that I should take in, pubs / food?

Cheers.

Apparently the Italian stuff is particularly good this year. But everything's there: what to go for depends entirely on your taste.

At Bankside you have Borough Market on your doorstep: lots of good food options there, and The Rake pub for beer. Brew Wharf and The Market Porter are also at Borough and worth taking a look at to see if there's anything interesting on the bar. A few minutes walk south from there is The Royal Oak, a lovely old-fashioned pub owned by Harvey's brewery.

Excellent, thanks for that. Other than what's near me in Bakside, any other places you'd advise checking out? Apologies I know London is a massive place!

Saturday morning at The Kernel is worth doing. You can get the tube to Bermondsey from Southwark or London Bridge. The Euston Tap at Euston Station is an excellent pub, as are any of the Craft Beer Co. ones in Clerkenwell, Islington and Pimlico. Camden Town Brewery's bar at Kentish Town West station is open at weekends, where you can take refuge from all the real ale with some quality lager. BrewDog have a place up in that direction too. For more traditional pubs it's hard to beat The Harp on Chandos Place near Covent Garden, or for the hardcore beards-and-sandals experience (apart from GBBF itself), the Wenlock Arms, near Old Street.

There is also the London Craft Beer festival on this weekend, so probably worth a look if you are around.
