Congratualtions to all and in particular (to show no bias) I would like to say that Rossa's L.A. I.P.A (at 2.5%) should be brewed commercially ( the 2 judges from Porterhouse agreed with me ). It was a technological masterpiece of a light beer <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D --> <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

I'm not sure the judges understood my Burton pale ale was a recreation of Truman #4 from the 1870s. It was supposed to be very sweet <!-- s:wink: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt="" title="Wink" /><!-- s:wink: -->

That said, it was a good experiment to see what beer judges thought of the beer without knowing any more about it other than being a Burton style pale ale.

I am surprised that my Porter didn't do too well. I thought it was a sure bet to come close with Rossa's American Stout.

The judges were just given a description of the beer, No BJCP style number!, so we had to interpret the description and match it to a BJCP style.

I think if we were told it was an old recipe and the yeast was not so effective in those days and/or they liked a sweeter beer from Burton it would have helped!

One brew we were asked to judge was a "Port Style Cider" <!-- s:shock: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_eek.gif" alt=":shock:" title="Shocked" /><!-- s:shock: -->
