Hi all,
I have been in contact with a chap from New Ross who would like to raise the profile of Irish craft beer locally (apparently there is little or no Irish craft beer in New Ross).
[quote:2i4awxay]I want to convert a few people to help me along and to ensure that we can have enough local demand to start some sort of a supply.
I also want to raise money for a charity, Crumlin Hospital. Our Eldest Son, Finn (now 7) had a serious Heart operation there and I want to do something for them, but I am trying to orchestrate an event where everyone wins.
Say I do a series of Beer tasting events based on the following. They would take place in Pubs
We get a number of breweries interested, we showcase them on the night, with a board, giving the history, some photos of the process, and examples of their product.
The breweries donate some beer, and we do a tasting of the beers, explaining how the treatment of the raw materials, the ingredients themselves and the process affects the taste. Then we explain how you can buy the beer and sell takeaways on the night, over the counter etc. Hopefully it would create a demand and do a lot for the profile of the Craft Breweries.
I have some family in the pub trade locally and they are interested in supplying a demand if it is there, I am sure that all we need to do is to create the demand, this I am sure is the case for all pubs.
The way I see it if we do two or three events, it will start to ring home.[/quote:2i4awxay]
He has a couple of pubs on board in principle but needs someone willing to talk people through the beers, give a bit of history, explain brewing, ingredients, etc.
I could do this, but I think it would be better for all concerned if it was someone from the South East. I can help with notes from previous tastings and am willing to talk to the breweries if you want.
Who's up for it?
