Ok everyone, Geoff just let me know what the story is with the new arrivals at the beer hall.

As was previously mentioned, O'Hara's stout has arrived. Other arrivals, to tantalise your taste buds are; bottles of Messers Bock, Messers Porter and a revived beer, originally from the late lamented Dwan's brewery, courtesy of Messrs Maguire, Dwans Stout.

Surprises from the Sam Adams range and some good English ales are not beyond the bounds of possibility either.

It sounds like those of you unsure if you can make it, would do well to try very hard, as this promises to be a good night.

I never remember seeing Twink with a stout on those old Dwans ads on d'telly. Can't remember if the slogan was "Dwan's makes better dwinks" or "A dwink is not a dwink without a Dwans".

Please ask Geoff to put one aside for me! His bloody mailbox was full and bounced

Oh, and find out is it a revival of An Dubháin or The Black Pearl. I think it's the latter, but having never tried either I guess it's immaterial.

For context, the beers originally made by the Dwans microbrewery[/url:28kqdi84]. When did they close down anyway?

And this is what the brewpub looked like in November 2002:

Yes, it's a quiet night...

The Black Pearl Stout was what I had in mind as the surprise. I saw a couple of bottles of it in the Messrs brewery at the beginning of the year. I recall posting about it being horrified that a true Irish stout was being exported directly out of the country and never seeing light of day here. I can't wait to try it.
