Good night. Really liked Cahalbrua's "Named Brand" stout clone. Recipe please <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

Big night for the APA's and IBU's

Hop happy Hoptimus Prime for me was the brew of the night as well as John's so so tasty all Citra brew. So many plans put in motion.

I think the general standard last night was the highest of any of these I've been to. Bighair's super-spicy witbier was a stand-out version of the style that's often uninspiring; Partridge9's lager was a lovely beefed up pils: strong and full-bodied at 5.9% ABV but with lots of lovely fresh Saaz aroma; and Biertourist's oak-bomb historical porter was excellent: I'd love to see it in a blind tasting with a Rioja - I think the result could be surprising.

Well done all.

Don't forget the cake- it was incredible.

The Fashion Victim single hopped (Citra) blew Brew Dog's IPA Is Dead Citra out of the water. I had wondered if it was the hop varietal that couldn't carry a brew on its own. Turns out it can when the brew is good.

Also commendations to the long anticipated Hoptimus Prime, the Sputnik and Ed's palate (and possibly bowel) cleanser.
