We had a most enjoyable meet last Friday night in the Bierhaus.

We sampled the following-

Bottles left over since the BIY Day – thanks again to Donors.

Taf’s Cider – a most pleasant natural cider – I think this was one of the Hedgerow ones – very good indeed!
Kitoog – Pale Ale – Very nice indeed, IICRC it was a kit ale – very smooth and pleasant.
Sbillings – Brown Ale – An absolute classic I thought with a nice achocolaty flavour. Superb man!!!
Bugno Kit lager with added hops – This was most pleasant – I imagine it proves what one can do to tweak with and add to different brews. Well done again Shane.

Member’s Brews on the night –

Great to meet Goodforwhatales you (x2) – Anthony presented a kit ale which all felt turned out very well. Some people commented they never got a kit as good. He also presented a wheatbeer type beer / blonde ale – again most pleasant. Thanks and welcome to the group.

GrimRob presented an ale made with African Sorghum which he procured in a local African food shop. As well as this being a most interesting beer Rob was able to educate some of us re African crops! Well done.

Rob also presented an Elderflower champagne drink (going on memory only so I stand correctable! – sorry!). This was most interesting - very light pinky in colour and most flavoursome. Another most interesting and enjoyable offering.

Taf brought along a great supply of beers and cider and educated some of his workmates who came along with him re what he can brew as well as introducing them to some of the great beers at the Bierhaus. I can remember having a lovely weisbier and a turbo cider from Taf’s collection but loss of memory prohibits me from adding much more re same!!!!

We were also able to sample Helvic Gold and Copper Coast Ale on cask at the Bierhaus o the night,, one replaced the other during the evening. They were both very good and kudos to Cormac and Tom for brewing same.

We discussed trying to meet once every two months (maybe first or second Friday of month) and yet again the possibility of a day trip was discussed. Watch this space! It is also hoped to have some BBC days in the next couple of months,

All I all a most enjoyable meet. Thanks again to Dave for hosting us and to himself and Milan for superb service and lots of water and half pint glasses on the night. There are very few bars who would give up a couple of tables for home brewing castings on a busy Friday night and We really do appreciate Dave’s generous support of our group.

Here’s to our next Meet!!!!!

Well the work crowd really enjoyed Friday night. They sampled some of the brews that we brought along, and also had many beers from the bar. I brought a 9% apple and paer turbo cider which went down very well with some, while the cascade ale, and the brown ale was more of a hit with others. There were also some very complimentary remarks in relation to Rob's Elderflower champagne, which was also the highlight of the night for me. I know he posted the recipe up here somewhere, so I will be taking a copy of that for next year. I also really enjoyed his African Sorghum beer.

It was also great to see people who normally drink heineken and guiness, drinking pilsner urquell and o'hara's stout and really enjoying it. A few people are saying that they are definitely going to drop into the beirhaus in future, so I think progress was made.

Another big thanks to Dave, for accomodating what was quite a large group.

Maybe we can start another post for the BBC, rather than sending PM's, as it would be more visible. Would be great to have one, as they have been very scarce this year. I'd like to brew on the day, and put it towards a cask ale to be drunk at a Christmas meetup.

Cheers,
Billy.
