Totally- and if CIE don't want to play ball, ring your credit card company and do a Chargeback.

I might be getting the 6.45pm train back Saturday evening now myself if people are also on it.

Turns out the bus thing was nonsense. Hello from the Portlaoise-Heuston train.

For those not on Twitter:

Due to ongoing works on the Cork line the 20.20 was replaced with a 20.40 which included a bus transfer. According to their website, and it's still there.

Then a 20.50 appeared in the printed timetable, without bus transfer but quite slow nonetheless, at 3 hours.

I queried this and they pointed me to the website, and when I asked about the 20.40 service as detailed on the website there was a "what u talkin about Willis" type answer, despite the fact that it's STILL THERE, on the very feckin page they linked to.

I cancelled my ticket on the basis of what the website said about the 20.40, and had no problem getting a full refund.

But earlier in this thread:

"Tube":2ah9zple wrote: Looks like the 20.20 train is cancelled, replaced by a 20.50 service that only goes to Port Laoise where it's a bus the rest of the way[/quote:2ah9zple]I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to the changes and got no emails from Irish Rail, but didn't the 20.50 always have a bus bit? Nobody else got off in Portlaoise looking for a bus, and the train guy thought I was nuts, so where did the idea of a 20.50 to Portlaoise with bus come from?
