Thanks Brian for tip off re Maguires Porter at 1.50 a pop. Called this evening and picked up six - expiry date 10/07 but sounds no problem to me. Also picked up a six pack of Westmalle, three duble and three triple with a lovely westmalle glass for 19.99 - very pleased withhhtat. Also got The Betty Stoggs Bitter, Old Peculiar and Bah Humbug Christmas Ale from Wyucvhwood - all within date! The guy in the shop did not think they wolud be getting in much Christmas beers this year - will call agia closer to Xnas but as always pleased with my purchases.

Oh and don't laugh - I also picked up a bottle of Furstenburg 5.3% 500 ml. - Drank it when it was on draught in Ireland 20 plus yrs ago!!! The guy forewarned me tht the expiry date is 2003 and it might be dodgy. I felt for one euro I could not go wrong - if it is is bad what is a euro.

Re Beernut's comments re Bierhaus and The Well not opening earlier I guess their locations and not serving food would not make this option viable to be open all day. If you are in Cork again by day call to the Crane Lane (mear the GPO or the Mutton Lane / Oval / or Sin E and you won't be disppointed.!!!!

Also got a compliemntary glass as same fo rall purchases over 15 euros at the oemnt HGot a Hogarden pit glass plus a 25 ml tumbler as well.

A good nights shopping!!!!!!

There are lots of more downmarket pubs near them which are open. And if they're not serving food, maybe they should be serving food. (See my forthcoming book "Other People's Businesses And How To Run Them".)

The MM Porter offer in Abbot ale house is over - apparently some guy came in and took the last nine cases of it and cleared the stock. Hope he chokes on it!!!!!
