Grrr <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Anyway, it's no longer a law, but most German breweries will plaster on the bottles as a marketing tool, even if it does not technically follow the original.

A friend of mine is vegan and doesn't drink beer because of the isinglass. He was quite happy to find out he can drink my home brew.

Pretty much all English breweries use isinglass to clear the real ale. It clears it fast so it will be fresh in the pubs. There isn't a good alternative to isinglass that is cheap and works as well at the moment. There is research into alternatives ongoing though.
