Ventured down yesterday afternoon to check out the latest addition to the porterhouse family.

It opened in the previous location of the the sheaf of wheat in coolock village.
Outside is nothing too fancy but inside is very impressive.
Seating is set out in more a restaurant layout rather then pub.
Menu is decent and can highly recommend the belly pork.
Beer wise the taps are a bit disappointing. No porterhouse beers in yet. Rebel red and SNPA on draught is about as exciting as it goes but they have a well stocked bottle menu. The majority of people were on the usual hino/miller/coors.

Was talking to a guy behind the bar and they will be changing the taps in rotation to find out what best sells. No plans for cask yet.

Looks like a nice pub but can't see it becoming the craft beer oasis out this side of the city. A nice pub for a nice meal would be my way of seeing it.

Thanks for the review. I'm in Artane so this would be the closest craft beer pub to me as well. I'm thinking of checking them out during the coming week. It's quite a rough area so I'll be pleasantly surprised if the pub does well as it will show craft is reaching a wider audience.

Wouldn't say it's reaching a wider audience. There are 4 bouncers on the door and are turning away a huge amount of people. They are getting a hell of a lot of bad press on Facebook but its coming from a lot of skangers. They are enforcing a strict dress code which is annoying the local track suit wearing yobs.

Well, if I'm honest that news is likely to make me go there more often, ashamed though I am to admit it.

i dont think it is a member of the PH group. its a member of the group that leases out the portehouse north from the porterhouse group

Its actually owned by a guy from Clontarf who bought it for his wife believe it or not! I think he has something to do with one of the porterhouses but its not part of the PH group. Great to see some craft beer in Coolock. Drank there in my youth after my years in Chanel college
