I have it on good authority that Galway Hooker have signed for Racing Metro and will be moving to Paris over the summer. <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) -->

Good review, haven't been in the Avoca since my first stint in college a decade ago, I'll have to check it out. Still a fiver for the Galway Bay beers though? I was hoping the suburbs would be cheaper. How were the other prices?

Pretty much a fiver across the board (didn't try the BrewBog beers, they're usually around €6 a pint).

Thanks for the reviews. I'm looking forward to trying it out now.

I have to say I'm glad it has a TV. I'd love if one of Brewdock or Black Sheep had a screen for footy/rugby games. I can understand why they don't, but it would be nice to have somewhere close to me that I could enjoy a game and have a decent pint. I usually go to Bowes but they don't have porter/stout on tap, which is a real pain.

Im glad they dont have tvs, a lot of people find them very distracting/annoying. Bull and castle might be another place you should go

I was in the night after the opening, for a couple of pints of the coffee and oatmeal stout on cask - and a taste of the Buried At Sea milk choc stout. I really thought the latter had a sort of cadburys taste... Probably the suggestive title working on me, but kudos to Galway Brewing, I thought it was well done.

There appeared to be a pool table, and personally I like the lounge / small bar divide. If you could grab the cushioned seats in the small bar with a few mates on a winter's evening you'd be well set-up.

The off-licence appeared well-curated and better priced than the other off-licence on the main street (name escapes me, opened last year?).

When I was there they were getting walk-ins, mainly locals trying it out for the first time. The food appeared a draw, and the crowd appeared not unfamiliar with the idea of a craft beer line-up behind the bar... Best of luck to them!

I heard they sell Guinness and Bulmers, surely not true?
