Non unique URLs, would explain why Google never finds things in the directory. It can't present links either. That really needs to change.

That's because there is only one venue that does craft beer in Kilkenny town. As has been mentioned here a few times, Kilkenny really is a dry town when it comes to craft. If you want the second venue mentioned, you need to drive 20 minutes southwards to Thomastown.
The Grapevine is more a wine bar than a restaurant.

gives the Directory entry for the Electric as the second hit, after the thread on it. Google is definitely indexing the Directory.
Every entry does have a unique URL, as do the results generated from clicking a category.

Google hasn't used URL's as their main parameter in the search algorithm for years. It's all about the page content now.

You're telling it to only show what it has from beoir.org. Search using google for electric cork and the beoir directory (or any of beoir) doesn't feature in the search results. (The directory page only scores 1 out of 10 on Page Rank.) This is SEO that I was talking about at the AGM.

Sorry, I took your "you can't link to the directory" literally. You mean links from the forum don't work.
