"No, the upstairs bar was called The Clubhouse (not The Club). It was part of The Arches"

No, you are right- The upstairs was called The Arches, the main pub was called Baileys.

As i mentioned in another thread[/url:3nh5n5yw] ... circumstances meant i ended up in this establishment instead of the RDS beerfest last night.

First time ever having 5am saint - it was really nice. This place is going to be a great resource for me in future i think

I didn't notice a telly so ill have to keep watching the football elsewhere. I dont count this as a bad thing.

I asked had they any cheese n onion crisps "we dont do anything like that at all" - i dont count that as a bad thing either, but i did have to listen to my mrs complain about it for a few minutes

The only other thing was the beer was a bit too cold.

Other than that, the place was done up really well, music was playing at a nice volume (i.e. you could barely hear it) - looks like it could be nice to go to for a bite to eat - but i didnt see a menu either.

TRied it last week as I live out that way. Tried the Hooker and the 5AM Saint and they were excellent. Around 40 bottled beers too including Augustiner, Brooklyn lager, Timothy Taylor Landlord etc. Very happy to see that range in a local. Spoke to owners and willing to get in other bers on request which is great.

Food is really good. Had a ribeye steak and could not fault it though at €23 a little pricey for a pub.

Sources tell me Hooker ran out within a week so hopefully more in soon. Dropped in quickly on Tuesday to meet my brother and there was loud music blaring. Maybe I'm just an old fart but I don't like music in a local. Hopefully a one off.

In summary though worthy of beer lovers' support!

Was at magpie last night and pleased to report that Galway hooker is back and the music was turned right down !

A good spot and worth checking out

Was in here on wednesday night for dinner.

There were a few around for a wednesday.
Food is mainly fish, and pricey enough. Wasn't overly impressed with the quality...it did the job though.

One thing i noticed (or think i noticed)... no one was drinking craft beer. Saw a few drinking from guinness branded galsses, pint bulmers bottles, carlsberg etc.

There were 1 or 2 drinking craft beer, the number of macro drinkers far outweighed them though. Hope it doesnt end up teatering back towards diagio land.
