Bantry Suggestions 18 years 9 months ago #1

One for the Cork lads. I'll be in Bantry for the weekend, with the family. If anyone has any good pub suggestions I'm all ears.
Traditional style pub, that does good food, decent pint, relaxing atmosphere, where you could bring two young kids for lunch and a couple of pints (me, not them). The Snug has been suggested to me.

Also, while down that end of the country, is there anywhere within a short drive that would be reccommended we visit?

not been there in a while...the snug is nice .. aptly named..cosy.. luceys and a place next to the snug ?? no idea what its a called. While in the area I think the best thing is a walk if you get the weather there are some nice ones around glengarrif which is only a few miles away... you could even bring the kids...there are a few flat walks in the nature reserve or a hillyish one in a place called priests leap ( you could drive a bit of that if you want)...lovely views. a good way of working off the few pints the next day. hope this helps...if you want more specific activities I can drill one of the lads from down that way for specifics

Thanks oconn. Looking at the weather forecast, there mightn't be much chance of a lot of outdoor activities. Hopefully we'll get out to enjoy the scenery between showers.

Keep an eye on the coolers while you are down there. Paulaner Weiss appears in some of the most unlikely pubs, in that neck of the woods.

Will do.
Of course I'll have to sample the Beamish too. When in Rome, and all that.

James J Crowley's Pub in centre of Bantry is a lively pub.
