One pint stop in cork city 16 years 7 months ago #1

Hi All,

Heading to clonakilty next week, and am gonna stop in cork on the way for lunch & a pint!

Given that it's unlikely that I'll convince her to
take the wheel for the rest of the journey, and I'll only be able to have one! what is the best pint on draught in cork at the mo?

Thanks,

Andy

the main pubs with nice beer are all located near the opera house. So you will have to head into town instead of skirting around on the south link.parking a issue. If you have the time and opening hours suit, head to the bierhaus or the franciscan well. Also neither does grub but there is a pizza place next to Bierhaus and you can bring in the pizza. Its worth the trip in though lovely pub.
Else for a bit of grub on your route all you will get is more or less the usual suspects. The viaduct just outside bishopstown roundabout is popular for grub[size=75:sreva5ur].( standard pub stuff )[/size:sreva5ur].

I would agree with Oconn - Franciscan does not open till 3 and Bierhaus 4 and no food in either. With parking etc. you might as well pick one of the usaal places and maybe go for a Beamish or Murphy's. Most bars which have craft beers do not do food - Long valley is a great spot for a snadwich and they have Rebel Red on draught but parking might be an issue there.

Have a great time any way in Clon - a lovely town.

Thanks for coming back lads, I know it sound's typically Oirish, but not really worried about the food!
Have no problem with Mcdonalds quatity food, just draw the line with McDonalds quality beer!

Confirming the opening times of those two was a life saver, you've saved me alot of heartache!

If I let her pack the bags the usual two or three times, stick in the slow lane & take a million photo's at the rock of cashel it might be three o'clock again I get there <!-- s8) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_cool.gif" alt="8)" title="Cool" /><!-- s8) -->

pizza is nice next to the Bierhaus...both spots are very central so you could disguise the pint as getting some nice food ?

Got the wife to drive to Clon, so got to stumble between the "holy trinity" of pubs in Cork

All great bars, all with sound staff!

Wish I got to stay longer, as the Fitzgerald stout got better by the mouthful!
Anyone know for sure whether this is the same beer that they sell in Tramco, as if so, I might get off my behind and get there!!
