Real Ale- Manchester?? 16 years 11 months ago #1

Heading to Manchester next month for a stag....with a view to hijacking it and turning it into a real ale tour could anyone recommend a few pubs with ample real ale supply?

The Marble Arch brewpub is well worth a visit.

Ah. Mystery solved. We had wondered why someone had beeped, when winding down the window and yelling incoherently out of it is far more traditional in my part of western Dublin.

It depends on what part of Manchester you will be in; I take it that it will probably be central Manchester so,
Beer House, 6 Angel Street,
Britons Protection, 50 Great Bridgewater street,
Rain bar, Great Bridgewater street (revamped old building with about 2 beers worth drinking) and quite near it is the quirky Peverill of the Peak (strange place with Deuchars IPA and a few others).
Jolly Angler, behind Piccadilly station (never been myself),
and a little further out from the Rain bar/Peverill place is the Lass 'O Gowrie, down a side street (Charles street) near BBC Manchester. This place had a very good list with 8 - 10 pumps.

if you're down by the science museum Cask is a nice little place outside it.mostly german/belgian bottles but a couple of hand pumps and budvar dark on tap. i probably wouldn't mention it for the selection but the staff are very friendly so i would definitel return on that basis.
Marble Arch, well nuff said! there's a couple of places on the way up to it, The Crown(?)on Oldham road and another place on Swan St.
Strange i only noticed the slopping floor after a few pints!
