Aventinus a fiver down the pub 17 years 11 months ago #1

Everyone in the Bull & Castle beerhall was on Aventinus this evening 'cos they're flogging it for a fiver a pop. There, em, may not be any left by the time I've posted this.

Alas the Irish Coffee Porter, at its prime last week, has expired. Tastes metallic and smells, bizarrely, of red peppers. Here's to a successful experiment anyway. More of this kind of thing please, lads.

Silenus gave me a taste of his stout. It turns out I'm a dud bottle magnet. Who knew?

Red peppers? I haven't come across the ester for that one.

The B&C will be a warzone if the uninitiated get stuck into the Aventinus. Or they won't be able to finish it.

they gave me the very last half glass (of coffee porter). ..they didnt want to but i said id just take it anyway as i loved it ...so i got it for free. coffee is sure to feature in my next brew. it might work out well...whilst making you sleepy drinking - the coffee may stimulate and keep me going for longer! the perfect rival to red bull and vodka...maybe the hooker company could use that as a marketing ploy and get all the skangers into craft brew!

I was in the Bull & Castle on Sunday night and my hopes were high when I saw the "Aventinus for a fiver" offer still on the blackboard. My hopes were dashed when I ordered one; - all gone! I had a Hooker and gazed in through the glass-fronted cold room in the (vain) hope of spotting a stray bottle.
