Licensing World Bar of the Year Awards 12 years 6 months ago #1

Hi Guys
I was loosely following this on twitter last night and saw a couple of winners announced, waiting for the full list to be published on the website.

However how much stock is held for these awards?

Best City Bar was Cassidys on Westmoreland St
Best Craft Bar was Brewery Corner in KK

On the craft bar side there was only 4 nominees? Brewery Corner, Cassidys, Electric and Michael Flannery's

Some pretty glaring omissions there for that sector alone.

According to the Entries page: "All licensed premises in Ireland may enter the Bar Of The Year Awards"

So it would appear that the reason the category was light was because other premises could not be bothered with entering.

Yeah possibly.
I suppose places like ATG and B&C don't really need to enter for validation as the throngs of people who visit there testifies to that for them

And also they both have the much coveted "Recommended by Beoir" status

To enter you must be fully subscribed to Licensing magazine, costs outweigh the benefits for a lot of people. Plus some just refuse to enter based on the previous years winners / management of awards.

That actually makes a lot of sense.
